About the Organization

Founded in 1969, the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) is a Medical Specialty Society composed of more than 2,300 American and International Orthopaedic Surgeons (MD/DO) specializing in the surgical and medical care of the foot and ankle. The Society promotes quality, ethical, and cost-effective patient care through the education, research and training of orthopaedic surgeons and other health care providers; creates public awareness for the prevention and treatment of foot and ankle disorders; and serves as a resource for government, industry and the national and international health care communities. AOFAS is complemented in its support of the field by the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation (The Foundation). The Foundation focuses on research, education and service.
