Course Overview

With comprehensive sessions consisting of featured lectures on the three main course topics of bone, cartilage and tendon/soft tissue, this course will discuss basic science to the newest technology of each topic. Faculty will also provide relevant clinical practice applications of each topic in an evidence-based format. Controversial issues will be met head-on and innovation and change in the specialty will receive priority attention.
In addition, the program will allow time for relevant non-CME industry-presented satellite symposia between didactic CME sessions. These sessions will complement, without duplicating, sessions scheduled for the AOFAS Annual Meeting.

Educational Objectives

Program goals are to facilitate higher levels of physician competencies in the treatment of complex foot and ankle problems. Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to:
  • Compare and contrast both operative and non-operative treatment protocols for the treatment of foot and ankle bone, cartilage and soft tissue disorders
  • Integrate current basic science, relevant research, and stateof-the-art procedures and technology into clinical practice of treating foot and ankle disorders
  • Describe and apply various innovations and treatment modalities for foot and ankle disorders
  • Integrate a basis for the practice of delivering evidence-based, cost-effective orthopaedic care
  • Gain an appreciation for measuring effi cacy of orthopaedic interventions and clinical outcomes in foot and ankle orthopaedics
